Themes: Death, Life, Suicide, Afterlife, Emotions, Guardian Angel
Final Idea:
Death is made up of many different beings called 'Delivers'.
These delivers escort the souls of the dead, taking them to their final resting place.
The story begins with the deliver being told they will have a soul arrive for them soon. The deliver is shown the souls life, spread out like pages of a book. The last page shows what life is like now she has passed away, the deliver is shown a darkened, messy room, covered in discarded takeaways and clothes. Faint crying can be heard and you can see a weeping, depressed lover crying into a pillow on the bed. This allows the deliver to see what the soul was like throughout their life and how life is without her.
When the soul arrives they are extremely distressed and demand to go back. Refusing to follow the delivers instructions and repeating they have to go back to be their for their partner.
The deliver then has to make the difficult decision, what is better, to let the soul be returned to the living realm to live a long and happy life with their lover. Or does the deliver allow the lover to take his own life, thus reuniting both souls and allowing them to rest together eternally.
The deliver can only make this decision once they have been tested. The tests are conducted by being given a chance to experience life. The deliver is given control over the souls human form so that he can be shown what it is to live their life. Through the delivers experience of life they are open to multiple emotions, joy, jealousy, sadness, anger, love, rejection. Through the experience of emotions the deliver can make a decision.
After experiencing what life is like the soul has to offer in their life. The deliver decides that it's unfair to steal a soul that can help another human be rid of sadness and experience happiness, joy and love again. So he lets the soul return to the living realm to live a long life with their lover. Although the deliver has more to do with his job and he leaves to judge more souls to take with him.
