Sainsbury's christmas advert (released 12th November 2014)
The advert is a documentary, focusing on the event which took place on christmas day December 1914, where the British and German soldiers stopped fighting to play a game of football. The advert has a dramatic style, an example of this is when the two soldiers leaver their trenches to meet in the middle of no mans land. The advert also uses compassion as a technique to make the view have an emotional response. The chocolate bar is one of the main products which Sainsbury's advertised through the advert, this led to an increase in sales for their chocolate bars. The advert was able to have a USP (unique selling point) through remembering those who fought and fell in the First World War on the 100th anniversary. |
O2 - Wear the rose, make them giants advert (released 9th September 2015)
This advert is an animation, it was created to help promoted support for the English team in the world rugby tournaments. The style for this advert is dramatic, it uses celebrity endorsement in a unique way, through the support of the public increasing the size of the rugby players. This was an advantage to O2 as it allowed them to do benefits and promotions such as offering tickets to some of the rugby matches when you use O2. |

Ikea - Come home and play (released on 6th November 2015)
This Ikea advert is an anti-realist, most of Ikea's adverts are anti-realist to give them a unique and memorable effect. The advert has a surreal style which makes it exciting and holds the viewers interest, the advert uses self perception in a clever way. The advert has a USP (unique selling point), due to it's anti-realist feel and the use of bright colours, the advert is memorable. |
PG Tips (It's the taste) (released on 27th December 2008)
The PG Tips adverts became a series of adverts featuring Monkey and Al (Johnny Vegas). The adverts are humorous, often making Al look rather stupid compared to Monkey. The adverts were able to use celebrity endorsement to help promote their product, the adverts have a life style appeal but as the adverts were part of a series the brand began to be quickly identified. Not only this but the adverts also offered benefits, as the series became more and more popular PG Tips were able to produce Monkey toys which were sold with limited edition boxes of teabags. |
