I contributed to our Social Action project through the creation of our idea, I also helped by being in the production so we had a wider range of participants.
Our project changed ideas multiple times, we originally had planned to interview volunteer community officers and let them talk about their opinions on how they're viewed by the public and how the public view them as less authoritative than police officers. However we later found out that our idea wouldn't work due to complications between community officers and Police community support officer. We then decided to change our idea to a global topic, homosexuality and the views people have on it.
We targeted our project at all age ranges, however our specific target audience was teenagers/young adults. We decided to specifically target our project at teenagers/young adults as they're the people which our project affects the most. To make sure it appealed to our target audience we interviewed teenagers/young adults.
We researched into similar projects involving people being interviews about their views on global issues. We decided our video should have a similar style and use the same techniques that they did, we decided to use to 'talking head' technique as it is most effective for the style of video we were aiming to create.
The aesthetic qualities in our project was specifically the backdrop, we wanted it to look professional and we decided the best way we could achieve this was by using a professional coloured backdrop. We decided to use black for our backdrop as it can make the subject stand out, therefore making the viewers attention stay on the subject.
Our videos showed that teenagers/young adults share extremely similar opinions on homosexuality and homophobia, it showed that most heterosexual people support it yet some people in the LGBT community are more discriminating than what people may have originally thought.
If we were to film this again we would have got a much wider range of people to interview, we would interview more people between the age of 25-45 and we would have interviewed more people from the LGBT community to see the opinions and views they have.
